I'm Mahé. I build networks across a valley in the French Alps, and I film it from above. Either way the job is the same: making legible what you cannot see.

02 — Method

I want the whole chain,from the crimp to the dashboard.

Cable to supervision

Most people pick one end: the ones who pull copper, the ones who configure, the ones who watch the alerts. I want all three. Crimping an RJ45 and reading a Zabbix graph are opposite ends of the same object, and you understand one badly without having had your hands in the other.

Everything runs on my own metal

Six virtual machines, an Active Directory domain, a backup NAS, VLANs and a VPN on my own Proxmox host. My applications ship to my own server behind my own reverse proxy — including the site you are reading. Clicking deploy on someone else's platform works fine; it teaches you nothing.

A lab exists to be broken

You are not allowed to break a production network. Mine, I am. That is where I test before touching anything of anyone else's, and where I learned most of what I can actually do.

IT department

Fifty buildings in a single town: schools, sports halls, technical services, a library. All connected, all to be watched. Zabbix stayed open on my screen from morning to night, and I learned to read an alert before it turned into a phone call.

I fitted twenty-five municipal sites with HP Aruba and Cisco switches, mounted Wi-Fi access points, pulled RJ45 and patched racks. Alongside that, three hundred workstations on Windows Server and Active Directory serving two hundred staff, and a study for connecting a PTZ camera to the town's surveillance centre.

A municipal network is not a server room. It is an entire town with cables in it.

La Rosière ski area

Network & broadcast

Twelve technical sites scattered across the mountain, joined by fibre and high-altitude Wi-Fi. When a webcam dies in February, nobody fixes it from home.

I diagnosed the Skidata ticketing, the lift access control and the webcams across three points of sale, and kept the resort website and its five information screens supplied with content every day of the season.

A ski-area network is mostly logistics wearing an IT costume.

The Villards car park, welcoming holidaymakers, running the drinks stand, in French and in English. Nothing technical about it.

A full season facing the public is a skill no command line will teach you.

Sound, light, content

Sound, lighting and cabling for local events and DJ sets. Plus the content for Little Italy, a festival in the Maurienne valley whose 2027 edition I am preparing.

Same job as the rest of it, with speakers instead of switches.

A multi-stream control room, written during the event

Live fundraising total, donation goals, a clickable floor plan and a mosaic that runs ten Twitch channels without melting the machine — all driven from an iPad, with a WebRTC audio bridge between PCs. Node server with zero dependencies, native ES modules, deployed on my own VPS.

Final year (2026–2027) of a vocational diploma in cybersecurity, IT, networks and electronics at Lycée Paul Héroult. 1,057 of 1,757 school hours are spent in a company, and I have no classes at all in December, February, July or August. Looking for a one-year apprenticeship from September 2026. Certified A1/A3 drone pilot, 46 flights including 5 hours of mountain flying. PIX score 376, level 7 of 7 in technical problem-solving. Driving licence in progress, full licence October 2026. Fluent English, basic Spanish.
